Anurag Batra Joins SBI Chairman, OYO Founder On MDI Gurgaon Board
Regarded as one of the top B-schools in India, MDI Gurgaon was formed as an autonomous body in 1973, in collaboration with several reputed institutions such as UNDP, UNIDO, World Bank and ILO.
All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE) has appointed Dr Anurag Batra, Chairman & Editor-in-Chief of media companies Business World and Exchange4media Group, as a Member of the Board of Governors of Management Development Institute (MDI) Gurgaon. Anurag Batra, also an alumnus of MDI, joins top business leaders like Rajnish Kumar, Chairman, SBI and OYO Founder Ritesh Agarwal who are serving on the MDI Board.
Commenting on Anurag Batra’s appointment, Prof. Anil D. Sahasrabudhe, Chairman, AlCTE said, “Dr Anurag Batra’s appointment is a part of the AICTE’s objective to enrich the business education institutions with the knowledge and experience of leaders from across industries. Dr Batra’s success as an entrepreneur and a founder of media businesses is well known”
Welcoming Dr Anurag Batra to the Board, Dr Pawan Kumar Singh, Director, MDI, said, “Dr Batra is an illustrious alumnus of the institute, who our faculty and students are extremely proud of. His appointment on the institute’s board is a matter of immense joy and happiness.”

Chairman of Board of Governors of MDI Gurgaon is Dr. Emandi Sankara Rao, who is currently serving as MD & CEO of IFCI, the oldest Financial Institution in India set up in 1948. Other Board Members include Dr. Madnesh Kumar Mishra, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Finance, Government of India; Rajnish Kumar, Chairman, State Bank of India; Preetha Reddy, Vice Chairperson, Apollo Hospitals Enterprise Limited and Ritesh Agarwal, Founder & CEO of OYO Hotels & Homes.
