Today, at Delhi’s Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, a temporary stage collapse resulted in eight individuals sustaining injuries. Two others were safely rescued amidst ongoing efforts at the site.

The incident occurred near Gate Number 2 of the stadium, where construction work was in progress. Promptly responding to the situation, a team comprising Delhi Police and fire tenders swiftly arrived at the scene following notification of the incident.

Confirming the injuries, a Delhi Police official stated that the wounded were promptly transferred to a nearby hospital for medical attention. As the situation unfolded, a search operation commenced at the site to ensure the safety and well-being of all individuals involved.

Providing insights into the incident, DCP South, Ankit Chauhan, shared, “The incident transpired at approximately 11 am today.” He elaborated, “A pandal, which was under preparation at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium’s Gate Number 2, collapsed. Initially, nearly 12 individuals were suspected to be trapped.”

He continued, “All individuals have been successfully evacuated and transported to AIIMS (All India Institute of Medical Sciences) for necessary treatment.” Reassuringly, he mentioned, “As of now, no fatalities have been reported. A coordinated effort involving police, fire, and ambulance services is underway to support ongoing rescue operations.”

This incident underscores the importance of stringent safety protocols in construction activities and serves as a reminder of the critical role played by emergency response teams in mitigating such crises.
