CBSE Announces 2025 Board Exam Dates
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has officially announced the much-anticipated date sheet for the Class 10 and Class 12 board exams for the year 2025. The announcement came on November 20, 2024, providing students and educators ample time to prepare for one of the most important academic milestones.
Starting on February 15, 2025, students across the country will begin their exams, marking the beginning of a testing period that will conclude by March 18 for Class 10 students. Meanwhile, Class 12 students will continue their assessments until April 4, 2025. Practical examinations for regular schools were scheduled from January 1 to February 14, 2025. In contrast, students from winter-bound schools completed their practicals between November 14 and December 14, 2024.
Examination Format & Important Details
For 2025, the CBSE has made notable changes to the exam pattern, introducing more multiple-choice questions (MCQs) and reducing the emphasis on short and long descriptive answers. This shift is aimed at testing the students' comprehensive understanding of the topics rather than their ability to memorize.
Exams will mostly occur from 10:30 AM to 1:30 PM IST, though sessions for select subjects like music and painting may run shorter. Students will need to download their admit cards when they become available on February 7, 2025. These can be accessed from CBSE's official websites, cbse.nic.in and cbse.gov.in.
In case some students find the need to improve their scores, supplementary exams are planned between July 17 and July 22, 2025, with results expected by August 1, 2025.
The subject-wise exam schedule, available on CBSE’s websites, remains uniform across the Arts, Commerce, and Science streams for Class 12, ensuring consistency across the board.
Additionally, students must adhere to strict rules during the examination period. It's imperative that they carry their admit cards and a valid photo ID to the exam centers. While they can bring transparent water bottles, the use of any unauthorized exam aids like calculators and rulers is prohibited.
