KOCHI: A 7-year-old boy was brutally assaulted by his mother’s partner in Thodupuzha. The young boy has been surviving on the ventilator as he continues to battle for life.

The doctors however have now started feeding him with the help of Ryle’s tube. A Ryle’s tube is a plastic or rubber tube that goes into the esophagus passing through the nose.

The boy still continues to have a dysfunctional brain but the doctors said that the other organs continue to work. So he can digest liquid diet such as juices and rice water. The other organs have been functioning with the help of the ventilator.

The doctors of the Kottayam Medical College said that they are hoping for a recovery or an improvement since the patient is a child. They are however afraid that any chance of recovery would become impossible if the brain stem cells get affected. The brain stem cell controls the basic functions such as breathing and heart rate.
