During the Independence Day celebrations held at Palayankottai in the district, as per the request of the district administration, a vehicle with models of machines under the theme Simple Machines in Human Life was parked on behalf of the District Science Center at the VUC ground.
There were 20 model machines in the vehicle including generator, transformer, solar energy, power for wheels, agricultural machinery.
Regarding this, Education Officer Lenin said, “There is a potato harvester machine among the model agricultural machines here. Since potato is a root crop, it needs to be dug a lot to harvest it.
This is a small model of a potato harvester that digs up the soil and picks up the potatoes. As soil and crops move over the ridges, topsoil is removed. From there, the potatoes are sent to the separation area where stones and earthen lumps are removed by human hands.
The potatoes are then added to the conveyor through side elevators. Agricultural machinery is used in farm and other agricultural work. From simple tools like air cutters and sprayers used in prehistoric times to the modern mechanized harvesters of India, work machinery encompasses a wide range of tools to handle a wide variety of problems,” he said.
After seeing the vehicle, Lakshana Priya, a class four student from Palayankot, shared with us about the machines she had seen.
