Abhishek Banerjee Emphasizes Transparency and Cooperation After ED Meeting
After Meeting with ED, Abhishek Banerjee Asserts Transparency and Cooperation
Trinamool Congress MP, Abhishek Banerjee, faced the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in Kolkata and stated his willingness to cooperate fully in the agency’s investigation into the alleged school jobs scam in West Bengal. Banerjee, emerging from the ED office after submitting a comprehensive 6,000-page response and all necessary documents, affirmed his transparency and openness.
“I have always cooperated with the probe. I have nothing to hide. I will appear before the ED if I am summoned again. I have submitted my detailed reply with all necessary documents,” he told reporters outside the ED office.
The Diamond Harbour MP had been summoned by the central agency after missing its previous summons on October 3, due to his participation in a protest rally in New Delhi. This rally demanded the immediate release of dues under the MGNREGA scheme to the state.
Elaborate security arrangements were made outside the ED office in the Salt Lake area. Previously, on September 13, the ED had questioned Banerjee for nearly nine hours regarding the alleged school recruitment scam. Banerjee had also faced ED inquiries twice in the coal pilferage case, once in the agency’s office in the national capital in 2021 and again in Kolkata in 2022.
