Class 10 and 12 Exams – What You Need to Know

Exams can feel stressful, especially when you are in Class 10 or Class 12. The good news is that you don’t need to scramble for miracles. A clear plan, the right books and a few habits can make a big difference. Below are the steps that work for most students in Tamil Nadu and across India.

Plan Your Study Schedule

Start by writing down the dates of every exam. Look at the total number of days you have and split them into blocks for each subject. Give more time to the subjects you find hardest. A simple rule is to study for 45 minutes and then take a 10‑minute break. During the break, stand up, stretch or have a quick snack. This keeps your brain fresh.

Make a daily checklist. Checking off a task gives a small boost of confidence and shows you are moving forward. If you miss a slot, move it to the next day instead of skipping it completely.

Use the Right Resources

For Class 10 and 12, the NCERT textbooks are the backbone. Read the text, then solve the examples and end‑of‑chapter questions. After that, try the sample papers that the board releases each year. They give a feel of the real exam pattern.

Online platforms like BYJU'S, Unacademy and Khan Academy have short videos that explain tricky topics in under 10 minutes. Watch one video, then immediately try a few problems. This helps you see how the concept works in practice.

Don’t forget past year papers. Download at least three full papers for each subject, set a timer and do them under exam conditions. After finishing, compare your answers with the solution key and note where you lost marks.

Keep a notebook for formulas, dates, and important definitions. Review this notebook every night for a few minutes. Repetition is the easiest way to remember facts.

Stay Healthy and Calm

Your brain works best when you get enough sleep. Aim for at least 7 hours each night, especially in the weeks before the exams. A short walk after studying can improve memory and mood.

If you feel nervous, try a simple breathing exercise: inhale for four seconds, hold for four, exhale for four, and repeat three times. It lowers anxiety and helps you focus.

Eat balanced meals. Include fruits, nuts and protein. Avoid heavy junk food that makes you sleepy.

Exam Day Tips

Read the instructions carefully before starting. Answer the questions you know first; this builds confidence and saves time for harder ones. If you get stuck, move on and come back later.

Keep an eye on the clock but don’t panic. Allocate about the same amount of time to each section unless the paper says otherwise.

Check your answer sheet before handing it in. A quick glance can catch simple mistakes like missing a negative sign or a wrong unit.

Remember, exams are a chance to show what you have learned. With a steady plan, the right study material and a calm mind, you can do well in both Class 10 and Class 12. Good luck!
